Enviro Coalition Pushes EPA To Reduce Petrochem Emissions

Law360 (December 3, 2019, 7:42 PM EST) -- More than 300 environmental and community groups on Tuesday pushed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to clamp down on emissions released by plants that make plastics in a petition that says the manufacturers are exacerbating climate change and harming communities.

The Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity and others filed a petition with the agency asking it to tighten the rules that apply to certain petrochemical plants, saying new guidelines are long overdue. The groups say the plants are responsible for large amounts of harmful emissions and produce products that are commonly thrown away, damaging the environment.
