Corporate legal teams have gradually brought more work in-house in recent years and are now able to handle at least some of the areas traditionally devoted to outside counsel. But as they continue to grapple with more legal needs and cost pressures in the new year, general counsel will likely call on firms known for expertise in niche areas, experts say.
