Knee Implant Suit Alleges Fraud, Medical Battery

Law360 (October 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A woman who claims she suffered because of defective knee implants has targeted Encore Medical Corp. in a 10-count complaint alleging the company committed fraud when it said its prosthetic knee devices were safe and accusing the doctor that implanted the device of medical battery.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in federal court in Pennsylvania, names Encore Medical Corp., Encore Medical L.P., University Orthopedics Center Ltd., University Orthopedics and Sport Medicine Center and Kenneth L. Cherry M.D. as defendants.
