FCC Plans To Propose Net Neutrality Rules

Law360, New York (September 18, 2009, 6:39 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission is reportedly preparing to propose new rules enforcing so-called net neutrality, which has drawn stiff opposition from telecommunications companies in the past.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski is scheduled to give a speech Monday outlining a proposal to require Internet providers, including telephone and cable companies, to treat all legal traffic equally, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday. The paper did not name any sources, and the FCC could not immediately be reached for comment.
