Receiver Says Baker Donelson Must Face Timber Scam Suit

Law360 (January 13, 2020, 5:50 PM EST) -- A court-appointed receiver for a timber mill business in Mississippi embroiled in Ponzi scheme allegations is defending her suit against Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz PC, contending she can sue the firm now because she also represents the business' investors.

Alysson Mills, the receiver for Arthur Lamar Adams and Madison Timber Properties, said in a filing Friday that the Southern District of Mississippi court should shoot down Baker Donelson's bid to exit the case and the firm's arguments that damages to third-party investors do not fall under the receiver's purview.
