EBay Chastised Again Over Fake Perfume Sales

Law360, New York (September 18, 2009, 6:48 PM EDT) -- EBay Inc. has been reprimanded for the second time in less than two years for allowing users to sell fake luxury goods, this time by a French tribunal that has ordered the online auction company to fork over €80,000 ($118,000) to LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA for illegally using keywords from certain high-end perfume brands.

The decision, handed down Friday by the Paris Tribunal de Grande Instance, found the San Jose, Calif.-based eBay responsible for “brand counterfeiting” on its Web site, according to LVMH....
