AstraZeneca Sues Eon Labs Over Toprol-XL Patent

Law360, New York (April 6, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- AstraZeneca has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against Eon Labs based on the generic maker’s plan to make a copycat version of the hypertension drug Toprol-XL.

The U.K. drug originator said the lawsuit is the result of a Paragraph IV Certification letter submitted by Eon to AstraZeneca concerning its intent to manufacture and sell metoprolol succinate in all dose forms in the United States.

Metoprolol succinate is marketed as Toprol-XL in the U.S. by AstraZeneca, LP....
