Spanish Cement Cos. Raided In Cartel Probes

Law360, New York (September 23, 2009, 1:16 PM EDT) -- Opening a new front in an ongoing investigation into price-fixing in the cement industry, European antitrust officials have raided the offices of numerous cement producers in Spain amid suspicions of market-sharing cartels.

The European Commission and Spain’s National Competition Commission carried out surprise inspections Tuesday at the cement producers as officials try to determine if those companies have abused their dominant position and formed price-fixing cartels in the Spanish market.
