EU, US Extend 'Patent Prosecution Highway' Pilot

Law360, New York (September 23, 2009, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office have announced they plan to extend the trial period for a pilot project aimed at speeding up the time it takes applicants to obtain patents in multiple countries.

The Patent Prosecution Highway agreement will be extended another year until the end of September 2010, the patent offices said. It is one of several agreements the USPTO has in place with patent offices of other countries to streamline the application process across borders.
