EPA Releases List Of Potential Water Contaminants

Law360, New York (September 23, 2009, 6:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday released a list of 104 chemicals — including butanol, acephate and perchlorate — and 12 microbes that may require regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The chemicals — which include pesticides, disinfection byproducts, pharmaceuticals, chemicals used in commerce, waterborne pathogens and algal toxins — are known or expected to occur in public water systems, according to the agency.
