Medical-Products Maker Settles Age Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (October 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Arizona medical-products maker has settled a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging the company laid off eight workers at a Colorado plant because of their age.

Medegen Medical Products Group will pay more than $570,000 to the employees and their lawyer. The company announced the settlement Friday, but the case was closed Oct. 11.

The company still denies that it has discriminated against any employees because of their age, but said that it agreed to settle to avoid costly and time-consuming...
