Huntington Derivative Suit Gets The Boot

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 1:20 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a shareholder derivative suit accusing the principals at Maryland-based Huntington Bancshares Inc., holding company of the Huntington National Bank, of breach of fiduciary duty and gross mismanagement stemming from the acquisition of Sky Financial Group Inc.

Judge George C. Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on Wednesday ruled that the shareholder who brought the suit had failed to make the requisite legal demands on the company's board of directors before filing suit.
