Cuban Bans Eased, But No Cigar Yet For Embargo End

Law360, New York (October 21, 2009, 12:08 PM EDT) -- The end of the U.S. embargo against Cuba will create a host of trade opportunities and challenges for American companies, but whether the decades-long trade restrictions will be lifted anytime soon is open to debate, lawyers say.

When President Barack Obama relaxed some regulations on Cuba earlier in 2009, including those dealing with family travel and exports of telecommunications equipment, it spurred renewed speculation that the near-total U.S. embargo against the communist nation might not be long for this world.
