Manitoba Cries Foul On US Water Supply Project

Law360, New York (September 29, 2009, 3:24 PM EDT) -- The Canadian province of Manitoba is asking a federal court to maintain an injunction preventing the U.S. government from completing a water supply project in North Dakota, saying the U.S. has failed to adequately assess the plan's environmental impacts.

Manitoba filed its motion for summary judgment Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, noting the Northwest Area Water Supply Project would link the Hudson Bay basin and the Missouri River basin, two ecologically distinct watersheds, for the first time.
