Glaxo Yanks Cervarix Batch After UK Death

Law360, New York (September 29, 2009, 5:44 PM EDT) -- GlaxoSmithKline PLC said Tuesday it had recalled a batch of Cervarix after learning that a 14-year-old girl in the United Kingdom who was vaccinated with the cervical cancer vaccine had died.

The pharmaceutical giant received news on Monday from the U.K. Department of Health of the death of Natalie Morton, the company said.

While the cause of Morton’s death is still uncertain, Glaxo said it had issued the batch recall as a precautionary measure. Other batches of the vaccine remain available and are not affected by...
