Indonesians' Murder, Torture Suit Against Exxon Nixed

Law360, New York (September 30, 2009, 5:18 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit against Exxon Mobil Corp. that accused its security forces of torturing and killing Indonesian villagers near its gas fields in the Aceh province of the archipelagic nation.

Chief Judge Royce C. Lamberth granted Exxon's motion to dismiss on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, saying in his memorandum opinion that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue as nonresident aliens.
