Greek Shipper To Pay $2.7M In Bilge Dumping Suit

Law360, New York (October 1, 2009, 5:24 PM EDT) -- A Greek shipping company has agreed to pay a $2.7 million criminal fine to resolve allegations by U.S. prosecutors that the company concealed damage to one of its ships that led the crew to discharge unfiltered bilge into the ocean and let ballast water that may have contained harmful invasive species leak into the water at the Port of New Orleans.
