Totes-Isotoner, US To Debate Gender Bias In Duties

Law360, New York (October 2, 2009, 7:37 PM EDT) -- Totes-Isotoner Corp. will square off with the U.S. government Monday in a case alleging that higher customs duties for men's gloves are unconstitutional because they discriminate on the basis of sex and age.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is scheduled to hear oral arguments on whether a trade court erred in dismissing the company's case for failing to allege that the classifications on which the duties are based harmed a specific gender group.
