Canadian Software Piracy on the Rise, Study Finds

Law360, New York (October 22, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Five of Canada's provinces and territories have software piracy rates in excess of 50%, according to a survey released by industry watchdog Canadian Alliance Against Software Theft.

On average, Canada's software piracy rate stood at 39.4% in 2002, according to the survey. Only four provinces had reduced or maintained their software piracy rates since the last survey one year earlier, the group said.
