E.U., U.S. Criticize Chinese Subsidies For Industry

Law360, New York (October 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The United States and the European Union have blasted China for failing to admit the true value of the subsidies it offers to its industrial sector.

At last week’s meeting of the World Trade Organization, the U.S. and the E.U. accused China of submitting an incomplete list of subsidies to the trade organizations, which prohibits state subsidies for industry.

The E.U. said that China had omitted all subsidies except for those offered by the federal government, which leaves out the funds given by regional bodies....
