Emerson Inks $1.2B Deal for Avocent

Law360, New York (October 6, 2009, 3:45 PM EDT) -- Technology and engineering giant Emerson Electric Co. has reached a $1.2 billion deal to acquire information technology management firm Avocent Corp. in a move Emerson says will boost its ability to provide additional services to its data center customers.

The companies said Tuesday that the Avocent board of directors had unanimously signed off on the all-cash tender offer of $25 per share. The transaction is expected to close around Jan. 1, 2010, subject to regulatory approvals and a vote by Avocent shareholders.
