Pierce Bainbridge Funder Targets Ex-Partners In Debt Chase

Law360 (April 22, 2020, 7:44 PM EDT) -- Pierce Bainbridge's litigation funder, Virage Capital Management, is contacting former partners of the beleaguered firm claiming it's owed a share of any fees generated from their ongoing cases, in what several attorneys described as a misguided attempt to collect on some of Pierce Bainbridge's estimated $65 million debt.

Five attorneys who received emails from Virage in early April said their reactions ranged from incredulousness to outright fury when they realized the lender was asserting it holds a lien on their cases — despite the fact that they've left Pierce Bainbridge and neither they nor their clients ever agreed to those liens....
