Sandoz's Plan For Generic Caduet Infringes: Pfizer

Law360, New York (October 7, 2009, 4:44 PM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. has hit German drugmaker Sandoz Inc. with a patent infringement suit alleging that Sandoz's abbreviated new drug application for a generic blood pressure and cholesterol reducer rips off the patented formula for Pfizer's Caduet.

In a complaint lodged Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, Pfizer urged the court to enjoin Sandoz from pursuing its ANDA for atorvastatin calcium tablets, stating that the formula was protected by Pfizer's new drug application number 21-540 and “Therapeutic combination” patent, which...
