Florida Power & Light Settles Over Feb. 2008 Outage

Law360, New York (October 8, 2009, 3:35 PM EDT) -- Florida Power & Light Co. and energy regulators have agreed to a $25 million settlement that will end an investigation into a February 2008 power outage that left 600,000 Sunshine State customers briefly in the dark.

Parent company FPL Group Inc. will pay the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and North American Electric Reliability Corp. $10 million each, the company said, and it will invest $5 million in transmission system reliability enhancements over the next three years.
