US Chamber Fires Back At Climate Change Defectors

Law360, New York (October 8, 2009, 6:04 PM EDT) -- The head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said Thursday that Apple Inc. — the latest company to quit the business association over its stance on climate change legislation — “flatly misstates the Chamber’s position” on the issue, blaming the recent resignations on an environmentalist campaign.

The Chamber supports federal climate change legislation and the development of alternative energy, President and CEO Tom Donohue said in prepared remarks, but the government is “headed in the wrong direction” when it comes to the Waxman-Markey bill.
