Ind. Gas Station Signs Not Kosher: Orthodox Union

Law360, New York (October 8, 2009, 7:08 PM EDT) -- The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America says an Indiana gas station chain's use of its trademarked “OU” symbol isn't kosher and has asked a federal judge to order signs using the symbol to be taken down.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the organization responsible for certifying food as kosher under Jewish law claims that Luke Oil Co. Inc. infringes its famous “OU” symbol on signs for at least 10 convenience stores.
