Pfizer Sues Online Vendor For Selling Generic Lipitor

Law360, New York (April 13, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pfizer has filed a lawsuit against an online vendor of generic drugs, alleging that the website markets an illegal copy of cholesterol fighter Lipitor.

The website,, markets a generic version of Lipitor dubbed “Storvas,” which it claims is manufactured by Indian generic maker Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in U. S. District Court in Delaware, seeks an injunction against further sales of the drug and claims infringement of Pfizer's patent and trademark rights for Lipitor.
