Sigma Reaches $160M Deal To Acquire CopperGate

Law360, New York (October 13, 2009, 1:11 PM EDT) -- Semiconductor maker Sigma Designs Inc. has inked a deal to acquire Israeli firm CopperGate Communications Ltd. in a $160 million cash-and-stock transaction, the companies said Tuesday.

Milpitas, Calif.-based Sigma, which makes semiconductors for the Blu-Ray and HDTV markets, said the two companies had complementary technologies, allowing the creation of a combined company that would be well-positioned to become a leading provider of networked home entertainment semiconductor solutions.
