DOJ Gives Conditional OK To AT&T, Centennial Deal

Law360, New York (October 13, 2009, 6:45 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has handed AT&T Inc. antitrust approval for its $944 million acquisition of Centennial Communications Corp., but told the telecommunications giant it must divest assets in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The transaction as originally proposed would lessen competition for mobile wireless telecommunications services in eight areas in Louisiana and Mississippi, and could lead to higher prices and a lower quality of service for customers in those locations, the DOJ said Tuesday.
