EU Asks UK To Get Tough On Fixed Termination Rates

Law360, New York (October 16, 2009, 1:05 PM EDT) -- The European Commission has asked the U.K. to impose more stringent price control and nondiscrimination obligations on telecommunications providers for fixed termination rates, the wholesale prices fixed operators charge for terminating calls on their respective networks.

Nondiscrimination obligations for alternative providers are necessary to ensure that they apply equivalent conditions in equivalent circumstances, the EC told the U.K.’s Office of Communications on Friday.
