Oneworld Pact Doesn't Violate Pilot Contract: American

Law360, New York (October 16, 2009, 5:16 PM EDT) -- An arbitrator has ruled that American Airlines Inc.'s proposed joint business agreement with British Airways PLC and Iberia LAE did not violate American's contract with pilots, the company said Thursday, but the airlines' bid for antitrust immunity still faces opposition from the Air Line Pilots Association and has prompted two U.S. senators to express concern.

The joint business agreement, known as the Oneworld alliance, was geared toward stimulating growth and increasing revenues, which would benefit participating airlines and their workers, American said.
