Japan Vows to Pursue EU Free-Trade Deal

Law360, New York (October 19, 2009, 2:41 PM EDT) -- A top Japanese official has reportedly vowed to increase efforts to reach a free-trade agreement with the European Union in the wake of the EU's recent agreement with South Korea.

Masayuki Naoshima, Japan's economy trade and industry minister, said he will work harder to reach an agreement with the EU in response to requests from Japanese business circles. The remarks were made during talks in Brussels with EU Industry Commissioner Guenter Verheugen on Friday, according to a report by Dow Jones Newswires.
