SEC Enforcement Cases Down In 2006

Law360, New York (November 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- New enforcement cases filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission were down almost 9% in 2006 compared to last year, according to statistics released Thursday.

The SEC filed a total of 574 enforcement actions in fiscal year 2006, down from 630 last year. The number of enforcement actions has been on a steady decline since it hit a high of 679 in 2003.
