Regulator Seeks Improved Data For EU Green Finance Plans
Law360, London (July 17, 2020, 11:39 AM BST) -- Europe's insurance regulator has highlighted the need for the European Union to provide "user-friendly" information and detailed guidance for financial advisors as it responds to the bloc's plans for climate-friendly investment.
The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority said Thursday that it wants the European Commission to consider setting up a platform for assessing risks attached to climate change and other threats such as COVID-19 or cyberattacks.
Responding to the European Commission's consultation on a renewed sustainable finance strategy, the regulator said it "strongly supports" the work the executive body is doing to "promote a sustainable financial environment."
