Court Denies J&J Unit’s Motion In Spinal Screw Suit

Law360, New York (November 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A district court has shot down a Johnson & Johnson unit’s attempt to obtain a preliminary injunction against the manufacture and sale of Alphatec Spine Inc.’s screws used in the surgical treatment of spine disorders.

Alphatec said Friday the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts denied DePuy Spine Inc.’s motion claiming that Alphatech’s Zodiac and Solanas polyaxial pedicle screws infringed a patent that DePuy licensed from Biedermann Motech GmbH, a German medical and orthopedic technology producer.
