MTC Again Opposes Tax Matters As Part Of False Claims Acts

Law360 (July 30, 2020, 9:03 PM EDT) -- Tax issues should not be part of state false claims acts, the Multistate Tax Commission said Thursday, renewing its opposition to allowing anyone but tax agencies to enforce whether individuals and businesses have paid the correct amount of tax.

States have expressed interest in extending false claims acts to tax matters but generally have not been successful in doing so. .
