E.U. To Continue Visa Probe, Despite Settlement

Law360 (November 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Although Visa International and Morgan Stanley have agreed to settle their long-standing antitrust dispute in Europe, their settlement will not automatically halt the ongoing European Commission probe into Visa’s potentially anti-competitive behavior, Commission regulators said Monday.

Brokerage firm Morgan Stanley first filed a complaint with the E.C. in April 2000, after Visa refused to let the company join the Visa Association in Europe because Morgan Stanley ran a competing card company, Discover, in the United States.
