Judge: Iowa Plaintiffs Can Call Bill Gates To Testify

Law360, New York (November 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and Chief Executive Steve Ballmer will face direct questioning from plaintiffs’ counsel in a class action antitrust suit against the software giant in state court in Iowa, a development the plaintiffs are hailing as a victory.

Last week, Judge Scott Rosenberg signed off on an order directing Microsoft to produce the two men for direct examination by the plaintiffs, over the defendant’s resistance. If Gates and Ballmer aren’t made available to the prosecution, then the defendants won’t be allowed to call...
