CPSC Issues Lead-Testing Guide For Kids' Products

Law360, New York (October 22, 2009, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has clarified its position on lead in children’s products and announced it will postpone the deadline for testing until 2010.

The CPSC has postponed the testing and certification requirements until February 2010, it said in a policy statement issued Wednesday.

In the meantime, companies are still not allowed to sell products that exceed the 300 parts per million limit, according to the policy statement.

Lead in paint is still subject to a 90 ppm limit, the agency added.
