Orthodox Union Backs Off Kosher Mark Injunction Bid

Law360, New York (October 22, 2009, 5:34 PM EDT) -- The Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America is withdrawing its bid for a preliminary injunction in its trademark lawsuit against Luke Oil Co. over its "OU" symbol, saying the Indiana gas station chain's notice of voluntary compliance rendered the bid moot.

Judge Robert Miller of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana on Thursday granted Orthodox Union’s motion to withdraw its preliminary injunction against Luke Oil, which the group contends has infringed its famous OU symbol on signs for at least 10 convenience stores....
