AAI Says Monsanto Hurts Competition In Seed Industry

Law360, New York (October 23, 2009, 6:24 PM EDT) -- Antitrust investigators and federal legislators should turn their sights on the market dominance of seed giant Monsanto Co., the American Antitrust Institute said in a report released Friday.

Monsanto, which has risen to dominate the agricultural industry through its sales of genetically modified seed, is involved in some three-quarters of agricultural biotechnology litigation, a “disproportionate share” of legal fights that raises a number of issues, the AAI said.
