Hemp Trade Group Sends FDA Advice On Regulating CBD

Law360 (August 20, 2020, 9:56 PM EDT) -- A hemp industry trade organization has urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to create national standards for the marketing and manufacture of CBD products, and to consider that the compound's relative safety as a consumable has already been established.

In public comments submitted Wednesday, the National Industrial Hemp Council cited the fact that the FDA has already approved one CBD-based drug for epilepsy and alluded to existing studies that the group said supports the notion that the compound is safe to consume in amounts typically found in foods and dietary supplements.
