EU Sets Deadline For Antitrust Review Of Opel Deal

Law360, New York (October 26, 2009, 7:21 PM EDT) -- The European Commission reportedly set a deadline Monday to review Magna International Inc. and OAO Sberbank’s plan to acquire General Motors Corp.’s European unit Adam Opel GmbH.

The commission has set a Nov. 27 deadline for its antitrust review of the planned takeover, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Under the deal, Canadian auto parts maker Magna and Russian bank Sberbank will get 55 percent of Opel, while GM will hold on to 35 percent. Opel employees are in line for the remaining 10 percent....
