Farmers Group Sues Monsanto To Get Roundup Off Shelves

Law360 (August 26, 2020, 11:19 PM EDT) -- The National Black Farmers Association hit Monsanto with a lawsuit Wednesday in Missouri federal court, seeking to get the Bayer AG unit to stop selling its Roundup brand products, which the group says have been linked to cancer and other ailments.

The nonprofit advocacy group said Monsanto's "aggressive business practices" had "forced" its members into using weedkillers that contain glyphosate, a chemical that previous court rulings have linked to cancer.

"Over the course of the last several decades, Monsanto has purchased local, conventional seed sellers and then removed their products from the market, making its own 'Roundup Ready' seeds the only option...
