Russia Launches Antitrust Probe Into Gazprom

Law360, New York (October 28, 2009, 12:54 PM EDT) -- On the heels of a $181 million fine against oil producer Rosneft for allegedly monopolizing Russia's wholesale oil products industry, the country's antitrust regulator announced Wednesday an investigation into state-controlled natural gas behemoth OAO Gazprom, based on a complaint by Rosneft.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service said in a statement Wednesday that the investigation will focus on Rosneft's claim that Gazprom, Russia's largest company, did not allow access to its gas pipeline system.
