Spanish Court Deals Blow To Merck In Zocor Patent Suit

Law360 (April 19, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Spanish court has ruled in favor of a unit of Bentley Pharmaceuticals, dealing Merck & Co. another blow in its attempt to protect its anti-cholesterol blockbuster drug Zocor from generic protection in Spain.

Earlier this month, the court ruled in favor of Laboratorios Belmac, Bentley’s Spanish subsidiary in Merck’s patent lawsuit against the company, ordering Merck to pay all of Laboratorios Belmac's legal costs without limitation.
