Huffy Asks CIT To Put Brakes On Cycle Duties

Law360, New York (October 29, 2009, 12:10 PM EDT) -- Huffy Corp. is challenging the classification of some of its children's pedal cycles and the duties being assigned to them by the U.S. government, saying officials made a simple mistake.

In a suit filed on Wednesday in the U.S. Court of International Trade, Huffy claimed the disputed cycles are more properly classified as “tricycles, scooters, pedal cars and similar wheeled toys,” which are duty free, and not as children's bicycles, which are not.
