CenterPoint Comes Up Empty In Gas Price MDL

Law360, New York (October 30, 2009, 2:51 PM EDT) -- The federal judge overseeing the multidistrict litigation over an alleged conspiracy to fix wholesale natural gas prices has refused to toss defendant CenterPoint Energy Services Inc. from the case, rejecting the company's argument that the plaintiffs have failed to state a claim.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Philip Pro rejected CenterPoint's bid to toss out the second amended complaint, ruling that its arguments too closely mirrored previous points the CenterPoint Energy unit brought before the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.
