EPA Settles Oil Waste CERCLA Suit For $1.7M

Law360, New York (November 2, 2009, 1:08 PM EST) -- Several defendants including cities in Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Massachusetts have agreed to pay a total of $1.7 million to reimburse the U.S. government for cleanup related to a 41-acre oil waste Superfund site in New Hampshire.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency filed a proposed consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire on Friday, the same day as it filed a complaint asking that defendants including Chester, N.H.; East Providence, R.I.; Haverhill, Mass.; and Salem, N.H., be ordered to...
