Judge Slams Door On ATI Crash Sensor Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 3, 2009, 5:18 PM EST) -- A federal judge has found four Automotive Technologies International Inc. patents related to car side-impact sensors invalid, handing a victory to a group of automotive suppliers and manufacturers — including Nissan Motor Co., Siemens VDO and others — that ATI had sued for infringement.

Judge Robert H. Cleland of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan ruled Friday that all patents asserted by ATI were invalid in light of prior art, granting the defendants' motions for summary judgment.
